The neurological examination helps localize the problem and determine which investigations may be needed. Management depends on the combination of signs, clinical progression and complementary tests.
Spine and function
Cervical or thoracolumbar pain, weakness, imbalance and changes in coordination may have different causes. Assessment should not be replaced by an isolated interpretation of a single sign.
Responsible planning
When surgery is indicated, planning, communication of expectations and follow-up belong to the same continuum of care.
